About the Role

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (AJC) is on an exciting journey to transform a storied, 156-year-old newspaper into the most essential and engaging digital news source for Atlanta, Georgia, and the South. As part of this mission, we are seeking a QA Engineer II to join our high-performing software engineering team.

In this role, you will collaborate with developers, product managers, and designers within an Agile pod structure to ensure high-quality digital product releases across web and mobile platforms through automation. You’ll play a critical part in building innovative media experiences that meet the highest standards for performance and usability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain an automation framework that ensures reusability and scalability to improve test coverage and deployment speed. This framework should be layered with a modular structure, test data management, reusable function libraries, object repository, test execution and reporting tools
  • Develop, execute, and maintain manual and automated test plans, test cases, and scripts for functional, regression, and exploratory testing
  • Collaborate with developers to identify, log, and validate bugs and defect resolutions
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives
  • Advocate for quality assurance best practices and a culture of continuous improvement
  • Ensure cross-browser and cross-platform compatibility through modern testing approaches
  • Provide feedback and insight that helps shape the product from a user-centric perspective

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 2+ years of relevant QA or software testing experience; alternatively, a master’s degree with up to 2 years of experience, or 6 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree
  • Experience testing B2C web and/or mobile applications in Agile development environments
  • Proficiency with QA tools such as Jira, TestRail, or Zephyr
  • Experience with test automation frameworks such as Selenium, BrowserStack or Cypress
  • Familiarity with API testing tools such as Postman
  • Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Strong knowledge of modern testing standards and practices
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills and organizational abilities
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills
  • Proactive mindset with a passion for continuous learning and improvement
