Mobile Application Developer (iOS)

A leading AI-driven identity verification platform is seeking a Mobile Application Developer (iOS-focused) to build and evolve a high-performance mobile experience and developer SDK used in mission-critical onboarding flows. You’ll design and ship features that rely on low-latency, asynchronous server APIs and device capabilities (camera/sensors, background tasks, secure storage), while shaping a clean, well-documented SDK that other apps can embed. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys owning end-to-end mobile product quality—from API contracts and offline resilience to UX polish and performance—within a modern, security-conscious environment. Remote role; strong preference for candidates with production iOS experience and SDK craftsmanship.

Annual Salary Range: $90,000-$120,000

Responsibilities

• Lead development of a native iOS app and accompanying SDK, delivering robust, user-friendly flows powered by cloud APIs (REST/GraphQL, webhooks).
• Architect resilient network layers (async/await, Combine/GCD), background execution, caching, and offline/retry strategies.
• Integrate and optimize device capabilities (camera/AVFoundation/Vision, biometrics, push notifications, background processing) for fast, reliable capture experiences.
• Collaborate with backend teams on API design, error models, and performance budgets; contribute to API contracts and client libraries.
• Package and distribute the SDK (Swift Package Manager/CocoaPods), maintain versioning/changelogs, and ship reference/sample apps and developer docs.
• Instrument analytics, crash/performance monitoring, and logging; analyze metrics to improve completion rates, cold-start, and frame-to-glass latency.
• Uphold security and privacy best practices (Keychain/Secure Enclave, data minimization, transport security, certificate pinning).
• Write clean, testable code with unit/integration/UI tests; participate in code reviews and continuous delivery (Fastlane/GitHub Actions or similar).
• Partner with Product/Design to scope, prototype, and iterate quickly; advocate for accessibility, internationalization, and scalability.
• Mentor peers, contribute to engineering standards, and champion a high-quality developer experience for customers integrating the SDK.

Requirements

Must-haves

• 4+ years of professional mobile development with a strong emphasis on iOS (Swift preferred); shipped and maintained at least one complex, production iOS app tied to cloud-based server APIs.
• Deep experience with asynchronous programming and networking on mobile (URLSession, async/await, Combine/GCD), robust error handling, and resilient offline behavior.
• Proficiency building SDKs/libraries for third-party developers, including semantic versioning, API design, documentation, and sample projects.
• Strong grasp of mobile architecture and patterns (e.g., MVVM/Clean), dependency management (SwiftPM, CocoaPods), and app lifecycle/background execution.
• Hands-on with device capabilities such as camera frameworks (AVFoundation/Vision) and push notifications; performance tuning and profiling (Instruments, memory, FPS, startup).
• Solid Git/GitHub workflow, code review discipline, and automated testing practices (unit/UI; CI/CD).
• Clear, empathetic communication and cross-functional collaboration skills; product mindset with attention to UX and reliability.

Nice-to-haves

• JavaScript/TypeScript skills—especially modern front-end (React) for internal tools, sample apps, or documentation sites.
• Backend familiarity (Node/TypeScript, Python, or similar) for API prototyping and end-to-end debugging; experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Experience with mobile security (keychain, secure storage, certificate pinning), privacy-by-design, and compliance-aware development.
• Cross-platform exposure (React Native or Flutter), Android fundamentals, or Kotlin/Java proficiency.
• Knowledge of performance monitoring and analytics platforms, A/B testing, and growth experimentation.
• Prior work in high-trust domains (fintech, healthcare, mobility) where identity, fraud reduction, or KYC/AML workflows are core.
