Position: Backend Software Engineer

Type: Full-time

Location: Hybrid – New York City (In-person 2+ days per week)

Salary: $140,000 – $230,000 per year

Equity: 0.15% – 0.25%

About the Role

Join a fast-growing startup automating back-office operations like payroll, HR, and tax compliance. As a Backend Engineer, you will build and scale robust systems capable of processing billions globally. You’ll work closely with the CTO and CEO to own and improve the tech stack.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable, fault-tolerant backend systems from scratch
• Scale platform capacity 10x in the next year
• Own the redesign and enhancement of the tech stack
• Collaborate directly with CTO and CEO
• Work onsite in NYC at least 2 days per week

Requirements

• 1 to 6 years of backend engineering experience, preferably in fintech or payments
• Strong knowledge of TypeScript, Next.js, AWS, and Vercel
• Proven experience building high-performance backend systems
• Ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment with high attention to detail
• Willingness to work hybrid with onsite presence in NYC

Compensation & Benefits

• Competitive salary: $140,000 to $230,000 depending on experience
