Position: Backend Software Engineer
Type: Full-time
Location: Hybrid – New York City (In-person 2+ days per week)
Salary: $140,000 – $230,000 per year
Equity: 0.15% – 0.25%
Visa Sponsorship: Only for H1B transfers (no new sponsorships)
About the Role
Join a fast-growing startup automating back-office operations like payroll, HR, and tax compliance. As a Backend Engineer, you will build and scale robust systems capable of processing billions globally. You’ll work closely with the CTO and CEO to own and improve the tech stack.
Responsibilities
- Design and build scalable, fault-tolerant backend systems from scratch
- Scale platform capacity 10x in the next year
- Own the redesign and enhancement of the tech stack
- Collaborate directly with CTO and CEO
- Work onsite in NYC at least 2 days per week
Requirements
- 1 to 6 years of backend engineering experience, preferably in fintech or payments
- Strong knowledge of TypeScript, Next.js, AWS, and Vercel
- Proven experience building high-performance backend systems
- Ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment with high attention to detail
- Willingness to work hybrid with onsite presence in NYC
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive salary: $140,000 to $230,000 depending on experience
- Equity: 0.15% to 0.25% ownership stake
